If he tricks the tap, then Neace lets off a little thinking the fight is over. Then he gets out. Kind of like a Chael Sonnen attempt, but the ref thought otherwise.
One of the best refs too, but no one is perfect.

A single tap is not gona get a fight stopped, end of story. He touched Neace ONCE with open hand….doesnt mean crap. And on top of that, he didnt get out of the submission because Neace let him get out….his toes popped out while NEace was cranking….
But besides this, I think Neace won first round and should of gone to third round.

rainbow is correct. Lesson to be learned here is to always get an obvious clear tap before letting up. Herb dean did make a mistake, and I noticed Dana was hard pressed to make him look bad because he is generally pretty good.

This was very clearly a tap. As soon as Akira tapped, Neace let go. Herb missed it. Had he not tapped his ankle would have been destroyed. My assumption is that from now on the fighters will hold submissions longer than necessary to make sure the ref sees it. This was cause broken bones and ruined careers, all from missed calls. Herb gets a pass because he is so consistent, but he did miss this one.

Fact of the matter is- He did tap, but there has been enough controversy in the past to know better in that situation. Especially when there was all of the frustration leading up to the fight. Until the ref says stop, in a fight like that, do what you have to do.

On review I’m not so convinced. His hand moved towards his leg like he was gonna tap but then seemed to change his mind. All leg locks are f****** dangerous, especially if fighting is your living so its smarter to tap before its too late however, in this case it looks like he pulls out of it and i think he also shakes his finger to say “no tap”.

And about this whole coach versus coach hype,
you can see with a lot of these incidents that Miller wants to make it up with Bisping but for the sake of the hype train he can’t do it. Bispings behaving quite amicably in this season. The fighters are just pushing it to a new level. Akira and Neace are both dicks. I think Neace is the bigger Douche ultimately cos he pushes the limit more than akira. A pool ball in a glove, how is that provocative????
