Going to go out on a HUGE limb here, and say that I think Tim Sylvia will eek out a win in this one.

Here is why…

Sprawl. The guy has ungodly long legs and I think any take down attemps by Feedor (who I wholey believe is the pfp best MMA fighter out there) will be stuffed for the most part. This being said….it may very well wind up being a stand up game…and Sylvia will play it smart and stay as far away as he can. He will use his jab, throw rights sparingly and move,move,move. We dont really know how well Feedor takes a punch, cause he really hasnt to date. But I think as long as Sylvia can keep Feedor on his feet and at arms length, he has a chance to pull out a win.

Which would set up Couture vs Sylvai II, which no one wants to see. We want Randy vs Feedor, and we have all waited plenty long enough.

Fedor will get this fight to the mat. Book it. He’s not going to shoot from 5 feet out a la Jeff Monson. He will use his striking to clinch up and get a takedown. Once it’s there, watch for a leg lock or a knee bar with those big lanky Sylvia legs that he will hang out there for the taking (see Arlovski fight). Fedor second round submission victory.

Smitty… have you seen fedor/randleman? Have you seen fedor/fujita where he took a hell of a right hook, which almost ko’d him, went to grapple, took quite a few punches, but recovered, and then just… punished fujita for the lucky punch. He’s been training muay thai and boxing on top of sambo and judo for the last few years, and his striking has improved greatly. As far as size goes.. he beat semmy schilt, heath herring, and choi hong-man, so the size of sylvia isn’t anything fedor hasn’t faced and conquered. If sylvia wants to land any punches, he better be peak performance. All of you morons saying Fedor might have ring rust… he competes more then any MMA figher out there, he’s fighting in multiple organizations. Silly comments, go fedor.

few thoughts:
1- for all that Affliction has at stake on this show their marketing campaign continues to shock me, simply some of the worst TV spots and promos I have ever seen. Trust me I do this for a living and there cat food commercials that are more exciting than this. Also the older spots did nothing either to get the casual fan to pay out the money for PPV.

2- I’m no fedor expert but anyone claiming that he is going to get knocked out by Tim must be out of their minds! did you guys not see his previous fights in the UFC I predict Fedor will rock him like Captain America did only difference is that the emperor will finish him.

is affliction in a cage or in a ring? Dont you guys remember what happened to cro cop against crappy fighters in the ufc because he was stuck in a cage. Everybody thought cro cop was going to dominate, but was quickly KNOCKED OUT. When men go from ring to octagon, they suck out. Anderson Silva is the exception because he competed orginally in an octagon before going over to pride…Tim has been fighting in an octagon all his life with people like matt hughes..Tim is no slouch and will dominate in the octagon

Sylvia’s ‘OK’… Overrated and tall. Knock 10″ off of Tim’s height and he’s just another fighter.
Arlovski disappointed me greatly when he lost to Sylvia twice.
Still think that the REAL fight of the century would be Fedor vs Randy Couture.

I “HOPE” that Feedor wins. I am a firm believer he is the best pvp MMA fighter in the game today, and if he could cut weight, or Anderson Silva could hit a all-you-can-eat buffet for a few days and they could meet somewhere in weight, that would be an awesome fight.

I am simply saying, I see a way for Sylvia to pinch out a decision. If Feedor can pin him to the fence, and get him down I think it would end roughly 1 minute later. But Sylvia is a chickenshit about that, and after what Couture did to him for 5 rounds, he will have a game plan in place to absolutely NOT get taken down if he can avoid it. If he DOES…bet he will grab/hold/clutch whatever he can get his hands on trying to get it brough back to its feet.

On his feet is the ONLY way he has a chance…and we all know that. So I think he will do all he can to keep it there is all I am saying.
