It doesn’t matter how fancy things get at the top of the sport — MMA’s regional scene is still a chaotic mess where literally anything can happen. Case in point: At Fire Extreme Fighting’s show at the Kankakee Fair Grounds in Illinois on Saturday night, a 53-year-old spectator named Tim was asked if he’d come in as a replacement for a fighter who had dropped out at the last minute. Being in fair shape for his age, and open to new experiences, Tim agreed, and found himself staring down a 21-year-old opponent just an hour later.

It’s probably him and his buddy started training together by watching TV.This guy can’t be pro.He’s not even an amateur.He had 0 boxing technic,0 kicking technic and he seemed to not know a thing about grappling.This guy needs to go to a gym and learn MMA.Respect for the 53 year old and shame on the 21 year old for being that bad at MMA.

This is perfect example of why there needs to be standards for letting guys fight and standards for letting guys train people out of their garage and callin it an mma gym…what is funny is that if that old man even got paid 20 bucks of that fight he would now be a professional prize fighter…great vid but that s*** belongs in toughman circuits.that 21 year old should be embarrased and stop wearing his tapout shirts to the club and telling hoes he is a fighter just to get some dirty p****…and just cuz you get in the cage in fight does not make you a fighter….lets face it they will let just about anyone fight these days…a real fighter trains eats sleeps breaths fighting and when he competes it shows….thats where the difference is made between tough guys who bar fight and guys who are real fighters. why does every think wrestlers dominiate so much…..becuase they are actually trained athletes..but this vid is very entertaining and great peice to use for an ambassador of the sport….just roll off the bar stool and you can be the next ammy mma sensation.

I find it funny how myself, along with many others including a UFC Vet in Bonnar agree that was a great fight to watch in context. It had to be a stunt. First off, that kid would have finished the older guy as soon as he hit the ground, he instead stopped throwing punches and persisted to run away, and then he got tapped, which you can see he rolled with and was perfectly conscious as he was falling, to curl up into a ball.

But if it was real, pretty damn awesome. However, i’m sure his wife won’t be happy.

Most of the comments in this post are fairly true…but I don’t understand why ppl here think that a 21 year old should know more about fighting, especially more than a 53 year old? He’s got 30 yrs of life experience and clearly some fighting experience. I understand that he sucks but how is age at all relevant? He should suck less because he’s young and inexperienced? huh?

on another note, events like these are the reason why mma gets a bad rep in some circles.

I loved this fight! The old dude has probably done the shady circuit during his days. Probably has some boxing and back alley fighting experience, maybe even some high school wrestling (that’s why he didn’t give his back) or he just might be training and decided to give it a shot.
He’s what I call a “Tank Abbot” or any guy who will take any last-minute fight, sometimes even getting off the bar stool to fight and get back to the stool 30 minutes later.
About Bonnar being there, what’s the problem with that? Any legit fighter supports amateur events and he might be scouting some new talent to invest. He is not getting any younger and putting money in new talent is usually a good move for old fighters. Although, in this case I would put my money on the “old fart talent.” Watching this guy kicking the kid’s ass makes me want to give another shot at fighting, actually.
The kid… well, he either has no talent as a fighter or no talent as an actor. In both cases, he should hit the books. At least, books don’t hit back like old men do.

This is the first time I’ve posted. I’m posting because there is just way too much misinformation and confusion here.

I’m a big fat guy that used to box a bit, do a bit of MMA. I’ve been in fights, and even though I look smooth with good technique in the gym I look like s*** when the fight starts. It sucks!

What happens is you tense up and your form goes to s***. You start windmilling around, you forget EVERYTHING. You can get so tense your nerves take over and you gas out in like 30 seconds. Even if you can go 3 rounds hard in training no problem. Your nerves just F*** you hard.

That old man has done some boxing in the past. He’s no pro or anything, but he was able to conquer his nerves a bit, calm down, and toss one straight down the pipe. More than one actually. Plus some jabs.

NO ONE throws a right down the pipe like that without training. He probably works that bag at home.

They don’t look trained to you because you are used to seeing pros. These are two amateur enthusiasts, and this fight is typical of the quality you get when non-athletic guys do their first fight.

Brings back memories. I looked JUST LIKE that. Grah. Flailing all over. So frustrating. Train so hard to just look like s***. Lol. You calm down over your next couple of bouts though and then it gets smoother.

Hilarious that there’s even a discussion on whether this is an amateur fight. I really hope that was that kids first fight without training because he had nothing going for him. With that said, this fight shouldn’t have even been allowed. At that mans age and condition, he was definitely liable for a very serious injury had he been fighting someone who knew what they were doing.
